Scope of Works

This project entailed supply and installation of Armco W beam type retention wall to be installed, giving 650mm of retention to stabilise the track shoulder ballast over a length in excess of half a kilometre

Solutions

The location of the project through a large section of embankment at The Gap introduced major challenges requiring site mixing of over 35m3 of concrete to install 265 posts. Additionally vehicular access to the site was impossible due to the surrounding terrain. This meant HCH’s specialist hi rail excavators and equipment were required to excavate post holes and handle transport and installation of all materials into the work site, prior to filling ballast to height and adjusting track geometry to network standards

Results

Working to train running constraints, HCH achieved completion of this project under budget in 15 days, with no delay to train movements and excellent safety compliance maintaining HCH’s perfect LTI/MTI ratio of zero.
